Does your organisation comply with the basic criteria

1. Carbon Trust Loans are available to SME's in: England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland
   
   
2. A Small or Medium Enterprise (SME) is an organisation:
   - With less than 250 full time employees
   - With less than £35 million turnover
   - or
   - With less than £30 million assets
   - That is not owned by a larger organisation
   
   
3. Organisations must have been trading for at least 12 months
   
   
4. Organisations must have an acceptable credit rating.

Exemptions to the Energy-Efficiency Loans Scheme are organisations within the:

• Agricultural sector – any enterprise active in the primary production of agricultural products is generally excluded. However enterprises involved in the processing and marketing of agricultural produce are generally acceptable unless their business is preparing animal or plant produce for the first sale. Such enterprises would also be excluded if the benefit of the loan is passed on to primary producers.
• Export Related sector - if the loan will support export related activities and is directly linked to the quantities exported, to the establishment and operation of a distribution network, or to other current expenditure linked to the export activity
• Transport sector – Carbon Trust can not provide loans to enterprises, whose core business is road freight transport, for the acquisition of transport vehicles.
• Fisheries and Aquaculture sectors - Carbon Trust are generally unable to make loans to enterprises in these sectors.
• Coal sector - enterprises active in this sector are not eligible.

The steps to obtaining a Carbon Trust Interest Free Loan.

1. Having determined that your organisation meets the basic criteria: Invite bids from suitable vendors. Qualify bids and establish budget. Obtain management approval.
   
2. Seek vendor’s advice about maximum Carbon Trust Loan value. Provide vendor with essential business data to make calculation. Vendor will use Carbon Trust Loan calculator to establish Loan value.

4. Complete the Form and e-mail to: mailto:loanseligibility@carbontrust.co.uk Upon Eligibility approval, proceed to the Loan Application phase. Negotiate payment terms with project vendor. Seek assistance of successful vendor to provide essential technical data. Complete the Application Form and submit.
   
5. Upon Loan approval request that vendor submits first phase invoice for project to activate funds release.

How long does the whole application process take?

Total time will be about 8 to 10 weeks.
